Download the CivilAxis Connector
A small program that runs on your computer and lets CivilAxis read the Revit model you have open. Your model never leaves your machine - only the answers to what you ask do.
AutoCAD can now draw. Ask for a reinforced concrete section, a pipe pile, a plate or a bolt group and the connector draws it into the drawing you have open - on CivilAxis layers, at your annotative scale, with dimensions and leaders sized in real paper millimetres. It asks for the scale first, and asks whether you want dimensions and leaders before it draws anything.
Drawing is described as a specification, not as coordinates: you say what the detail is, and the connector works out the geometry, the bar centres, the trims and the annotation placement. It reports back exactly what it drew.
Three fixes worth knowing about:
Asking about your Revit selection sometimes answered "Excel is not open" - all three applications have a selection, and the connector picked the wrong one. It now follows whichever connector you are actually in.
The status strip could show your application as closed while it was open in front of you. On a corporate network this looked like the proxy blocking us, and it was not - the connector simply stopped saying it was there after a reconnect. It now checks in regularly.
Long file names were being cut short, so a real shop drawing came back as "No open document matches..." followed by the full name of the document it had just failed to match.
New: the site now tells you when this is out of date. The tray icon has always offered updates and it turned out to be somewhere nobody looks, so an old connector could sit refusing commands while the site showed a healthy green Connected. From this version on, the chat says so directly.
Install: unzip anywhere and run install.cmd. No administrator rights. Your browser opens on the Connect page - press Connect and you are done.
Update from an earlier version: the same install.cmd replaces it. Close Revit first.
Remove: run uninstall.cmd from the same folder.
Tested against a live AutoCAD 2026 drawing and a real Excel workbook. Revit 2021 to 2026 are built and signed; the scope fix above is verified in the build but not yet on a running Revit.

Setting it up
- Unzip the file anywhere, then run install.cmd. It installs into your own user folder and starts straight away.
- A pairing code appears. Follow the link it shows to approve this computer on your account.
- Start Revit and open a model. Come back to the Revit assistant and it will see the file you have open.
Revit will ask about the publisher once
This build is not signed with a purchased certificate yet, so the first time Revit loads it you will be asked whether to trust it. Choose Always Load and it will not ask again.
What it can reach
It reads only the Revit files you have open, and only while Revit is running. It cannot change your model - this version is read-only. You can unlink the computer, or uninstall it, at any time.
Previous releases
Three applications now: Revit, Excel and AutoCAD. One install covers all of them - the connector reads whichever you have open.
Excel - ask about the workbook you have open, find broken cells (#REF!, #DIV/0!), trace where a number comes from, and format engineering symbols without the Ctrl+1 dance. Formatting shows you a preview and waits for you to approve it.
AutoCAD - ask about the drawing you have open: layers and what is on them, blocks and how often they are inserted, and what you have selected.

Connecting is now one click. After installing, the connector opens the CivilAxis Connect page by itself - press Connect and you are done. No code to type.
It keeps itself up to date. The connector checks for new versions and offers them in the tray menu. Nothing installs without you agreeing to it.
