Lap lengths to EC2 are not just "50 bar diameters".
l0 = α1 α2 α3 α5 α6 lb,rqd, and α6 alone goes up to 1.5 when more than half the bars are lapped at the same section. Staggering the laps is often cheaper than paying for that factor. #eurocode2 #detailing

Also worth remembering the minimum: l0 must not be less than max(0.3 α6 lb,rqd, 15φ, 200 mm).
