This Privacy Policy explains what information CivilAxis collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection minimal and never sell your personal data.

1. Who we are

CivilAxis (civilaxis.com) is an online platform providing free engineering calculators, design tools and a professional community for civil, structural and geotechnical engineers. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

2. Data we collect

•Account data - if you sign up: your email, a display/pen name, and an optional avatar and bio.

•Content you create - posts, comments, articles, milestone stories, calculator inputs you choose to save or share.

•Usage data - basic, privacy-respecting analytics (pages visited, device type, approximate region) to understand which tools are useful and to improve performance.

•Cookies - essential cookies for sign-in/session and preferences, and, where you consent, third-party advertising cookies set by Google (see section 5, "Advertising").

3. How we use your data

•To provide the service - authenticate you, save your work, display your content and profile.

•To improve the tools - aggregate, anonymised usage helps us decide what to build and fix.

•To keep the platform safe - prevent spam, abuse and misuse.

We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Calculator data

The engineering calculators run in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to our servers unless you explicitly save or share a result. Shared links encode the inputs in the URL so the result can be reproduced.

5. Advertising

We show ads served by Google, including through Google AdSense, to keep CivilAxis free to use.

•Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

•In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are set. You can decline or change your choice at any time; where you decline, only non-personalised ads (if any) are shown.

•You can review and control how Google uses your data at google.com/settings/ads, and read Google's advertising practices at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

We never share the numbers you enter into the calculators with advertisers.

6. Storage & security

Account and content data is stored with our hosting and database providers (e.g. Supabase, Vercel) under their security controls. Access is restricted by row-level security and authentication. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

7. Your rights

You can:

•Access and edit your profile and content from your account.

•Delete your content, and request deletion of your account and associated personal data.

•Object to or restrict certain processing.

8. Third-party links

Our tools and articles may reference external standards, documents or sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites; review their policies separately.

9. Children

CivilAxis is intended for engineering professionals and students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version; continued use constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
